What events happened to cause the Soviet economy to grow proportionally faster than the US economy before the stagnation and Gorbachev's liberalization reforms?
Most sources I've tried to research are very opinion based, and it seems hard to find a theory that doesn't have a main point of directly trying to discredit the US/USSR during that time.
