I was curious about this, as I was wondering how easy or hard it was for Draft dodgers during the Viet Nam era to go and stay in Canada.
I don't know about the legality of anything but my grandparents would let draft dodgers stay with them for a few days and some hot meals and beer. Open door policy, it was only required you make a note in their guest book and was suggested you put some change in the beer jar if you were able. I don't know how common this was though.
