The ancestors of the Maori were the first human beings to set foot on New Zealand when they landed in the 1300s and there's abundant archaeological evidence that they found it a pristine island. Pseudoscientific theories that the Celts, Israelites, "Aryans", etc. were there first have no more credibility than the 'theory' that the Romans discovered America, and have more than a tinge of racism to them.
