Here are several channels offering university level hour long lectures on topics predominately of British and American 20th Century military history. Some are lectures recorded at defence academies to serving soldiers, others are organised by national institutes or universities. Be advised however that while the subject matter is of the highest quality, the quality of the recording and the presentation of the topics is distinctly variable.

Defence Research a UK based series of lectures on matters of defence 1901-1960 (approx) covering a variety of topics from strategic bombing during the First World War to the post-Second world war reconstruction of Germany. While there are several purely military lectures such as the German perspective of the battle of Normandy, their is also a high emphasis upon civil-military relations, such as the lecture on the popular perception of the British army. These include several podcast published by the defence academy of the UK. Highly recommended, but some level of knowledge and independent study is expected, for example, the lecture on the German perspective of the battle of Normandy carries with it the expectation that listeners will be deeply familiar with the chronological progression of the campaign and the evolution of the historiography with regards to post-war, revisionist and counter-revisionist perspectives. Recording quality is highly variable, and microphone distortion makes it almost impossible to sit through their 'no easy wins: UK and Commonwealth forces in WW2 lecture.' highly recommended is their 'German forces in Normandy' lecture which covers variety of topics as well as addressing a number of myths of the campaign.

National Army Museum again a UK focused series of lectures and videos. their quality is a bit variable. the 'First World War in focus' is rather painful, but the 'old and the bold' and interviews with Stan Scott of 3 Commando are fascinating in bringing first-hand accounts to life but lacking in historical substance. However, their Lunchtime Lectures more then makes up for it, offering hour long lectures for ranging from the origins of the British army 1645-1707, Jane Austen and the army to combat experience in the Falkland war. These are well researched by highly experienced historians that are intended to introduce the audience to these periods and experiences. Would highly recommend their lecture 'Coalition warfare 1944: the Monte Cassino campaign' which addresses the difficulties that arise from coalition warfare, including a fascinating aside into the problems of Animal based logistics-did you know Palestinian donkeys won't work for a Greek wrangler and will turn their noses up at Italian food? or that Field Marshal Montgomery once failed an exam because he didn't know how often a Mule shat in a day?

George C Marshall Foundation this channel offers a variety of videos. In particular, I recommend their 1.5 hour long lecture 'World War II, Myths, Misconceptions and Surprises' which deals with a number of popular legends of the war which have been disproven. Three highly skilled historians cover a breadth of material in a entertaining manner. Predominately however the channel is orientated towards the George C Marshall and his activities- the Marshall plan, nuclear policy, and strategic planning in the war time and post-war world. It also has a playlist of short clips of allied leaders and stock footage, propaganda and teaching films from the second world war, covering a airborne demonstration laid on for allied high command pre- D-day, infantry weapons and their effects to urging women to enlist in the Women's army corps, in addition to a series of propaganda films produced by Frank Capra such as 'why we fight.'

Dole institute of politics This channel covers a huge variety of videos, ranging from the battle of cowpens to tactical pysops during the Second World War. This channel has a large emphasis upon recent political history and a obsession with bob dole. I don't know why. I would recommend their lectures 'German Army Mechnisation' and 'How the red army defeated Germany: the three alibis'

US Army Heritage and Education centre simply a staggering number of videos, their perspectives of military history playlist encompasses 97 different videos, covering a multitude of aspects ranging from the role of Clausewitz in contemporary war to corps commanders in the bulge and the Virginia campaign may-june 1864. I would particularly recommend 'fighting a loosing war the Germany army 1943' which covers the transitional and often forgotten year of 1943 where the allies increasingly gained the upper hand and how the Germans shifted temperamentally and physically from victorious aggressors to desperately attempting to stave off their impending annihilation, or 'Guns at last light, the war in western europe' which in particular deals with the little discussed aspects such as the lowering of physical fitness standards in the US army in the last years of the war and the shipment of the personal affects of dead men home to their families.
