What were the Guanches like? Were there any other tribes that were known in antiquity and lost to Europeans?

The Guanches were a subset of the Berber people, and spoke an Afro-Asiatic Berber language (although it's highly unlikely that they underwent arabization and islamization like the rest of the Berber groups). They didn't really go "extinct" as much as simply be absorbed by the Spanish through time.
