My interest in history startet in part with Mythology and later The Roman Way and The Greek Way, but it has been a while since i read them, so i was curious about how Edith Hamilton was seen in a generel sense.
Hamilton represents a completely adequate summary of mythological material. Although her books can be regarded as dated, her treatment is so generalized that it is difficult to find fault in them. They were not intended as an academic contribution and should not be cited as such. But if her writing serves as an introduction and inspires interest, then her contribution can be seen as retaining value even today.
