I am doing some creative writing that is set vaguely in the middle ages. I have an army that rests in a city on the way to its destination. I was just wondering if it would be normal to see the men clad in their armour or if they would dress more casually as they are a long way off the battle.
Edit: And if not in armour, what would they wear instead?
You need a context: place and time as there were different practices in Europe and even more in the world.
Full plate armor was something expensive, hard to use and equip, that needed practice and assistance.
What type of armour are we talking about?
