Only the portuguese King Joao VI "visited" Brazil during his reign. As a matter of fact, he fled after the Napoleonic occupation of Portugal in 1808. He stayed there long after the fall of Napoleon and only returned to Europe after the eruption of the Portuguese Liberal Revolution of 1820, leaving in Rio his son Pedro, who would be proclamed Emperor of Brazil two years later.

Royal visits of British princes to Canada weren't unsual during the 19th century, though. However, the first -reigning- monarch to visit Canada was Geoge VI in 1939.
