Were there any areas in Europe that managed to avoid the bubonic plague?

If so, how did they do it?

Also I recently watched the movie Black Death with Sean Bean where they find a creepy village that has managed to avoid the Bubonic plague. It was interesting that this village was associated with witchcraft in the movie, and I've heard that part of the reason that the black plague spread was because people got rid of their cats because they were associated with witches. I wonder if any such villages existed or kept their cats, were able to avoid the plague?

Also, In the wikipedia page for black plague, there's a gif that shows the spread of the black plague and there are some areas that seem to be unaffected (around Poland and Milan), but these are not explained.
