He was certainly a voracious reader, and could read a book while having a full conversation with his presidential staff, which he did to their annoyance. I can't remember the source, but one biographer ( I think it was Clay Jenkinson) said Teddy Roosevelt was even more well read than library amassing Thomas Jefferson.
