Why do we still have Catholic nuns but not monks?

I wondered if anyone could explain why we still have Catholic nuns in the UK but not Catholic monks. Surely nunneries were subjected to iconoclasm along with monasteries?

Indeed, monasticism isn't exactly "Thriving" but even here in Australia there's a Benedictine abbey (I believe)
