No, not really. Unless you were a white, male, middle-upper class American citizen, it rather sucked. Ethnic minorities of every stripe were facing renewed attempts to stifle their rights. Women were forced out of the jobs and power they had gained during the War and everyone fell victim to the paranoia caused by the Cold War and threat of Nuclear destruction.
