Did Jewish people play an active role during the Renaissance?

What were the major professions of Jewish people at this time?

Ummmm, what do you mean by Renaissance, both regionally and chronologically? As a historian of 14th century Italy (and the periods around it) I generally see the Renaissance not as a discrete time period as much as an intellectual movement that began in Italy and spread northward. I prefer to see the period from say, the discover of the Americas (or Reformation, or whatever) and ending in some vague point as the early modern period.

Regardless, you're asking about a vast expanse of space. Each region dealt with Jews differently. If you can be specific, I could possibly answer this question.
