I'm doing some research on ancient Rome, and what baffles me is that there are all these papers on Roman coinage, customs, and clothing, but nothing on where they'd keep their change, small items, etc.
They were either secured on the belt, or worn within pouches (bursa). They also had the satchel, or loculus. http://www.larp.com/legioxx/satchel.jpg
