Pretty much what the title says.
I am writing my master's dissertation on German military influence in Latin America pre-1914, looking at the relationship by analysing articles published in contemporary (German) military reviews (such as Militär-Wochenblatt, Deutsche Heeres-Zeitung, Deutsche Revue or Marine-Rundschau e.g.). An example of a English-language journal could be the Journal of the Royal United Service Institution.
Is anyone aware of historiographical material which asses the use of such publications as source material? If it's specific to my time-period (circa 1880-1914) that would be perfect, but I'll take anything haha
One thing I have been referred to is Förster, Stig (ed) Vor dem Sprung ins Dunkle: Die militärische Debatte über den Krieg der Zukunft 1880-1914 (Bern, 2016), which is based around the analysis of such sources (German, French and British military journals) and talks about their use as heuristic tools in the introduction

So this is quite a specific question, for which I have an answer by pure chance: For a project I looked into the book The grand illusion : the prussianization of the Chilean Army by William F. Sater and Holger H. Herwig, although only in search of pictures. I only read very little, but it might have something on journals in there and fits your time frame, although I'm not sure if Chile is of interest for you.
You probably know it already, but the catalogue of the "Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut Berlin" is a good resource for this, and the Institute itself does a lot on German-Latin American exchange - it might be worthwile to look into their own publications as well. A short browse of the catalogue brought up not only the book mentioned above, but also a few more about Chile and other Latin American countries: Neorealism, states, and the modern mass army by João Resende-Santos looks interesting, and also Die preußisch-deutsche Marine in Lateinamerika 1866 - 1914 : eine Studie deutscher Kanonenbootpolitik by Gerhard Wiechmann. Then there's the older book Deutsche Militärhilfe an Südamerika : Militär- und Rüstungsinteressen in Argentinien, Bolivien und Chile vor 1914 by Jürgen Schaefer. Again, I don't know if there's anything specifically on journals as this is quite outside my area, but I hope it's helpful nonetheless (even for finding more literature from these works).
