I've seen a few interpretations and the way that the nomadic Scythians are presented varies a great deal. From their clothes to their ethnicity, no single interpretation is similar to the other. I've seen them presented as Turks, Eastern Europeans, Mongolians and Iranians and it has been suggested to me before that they would have looked a lot like the Dothraki from game of thrones.
Furthermore, the clothes that the Scythians wear in some Greek sources and surviving works of art seem ridiculous and out of place on a nomadic steppe people. Skintight catsuits on a Scythian archer statue and on some pots just look too zany. One would expect furs, pelts, or just more realistic riding/nomadic gear than a bloody catsuit.
So, what clothes (armour and everyday) would the Scythians have worn, and what race were they or would they be most similar to today?
Scythian was a Greek term that described any and all of the nomadic steppe horsemen who came to their notice and who lived to their north about the Black Sea whether they be actual Scythians or the somewhat later Alans, Goths and Huns.
Genetically and culturally, they can be viewed as originating between the Black and Caspian Seas in west-central Asia. They were semi-nomadic horsemen. They moved across the steppes in wagons, they were clearly Indo-European. Speculation on how these people looked and dressed is abundant. On this point, you pay your money and you take your pick.
