I'll admit I don't know much about the region in that time. However, it's my understanding that it was "pagan" whereas Islam, the religion that Muhammad founded, is one of the Abrahamic religions. If Muhammad wasn't a follower of an Abrahamic religion how did he know enough of it to found one?
