I bought this Kalashnikov AKM a couple of weeks ago and noticed a couple of carvings on the stock of it. I asked the seller and they said they believed it may have been used during the Bosnian war between 1992 and 1995. The images show the name 'Kuljo' or Kuijo' and the date 29/12/94, which from research can account for the Djiboutian Civil War, Croatian War of Independence and the Sierra Leone Civil War. The part that I don't understand is the name 'Kuljo', I assumed it was the name of a town, but a search on google or maps gave no results, which led to my decision to post here. If anyone has any information they may be able to tie into a historical event or location, i'd love to know, as the carvings add to the identity of the gun and it's always nice to understand its history.
I can't offer any insight but I would suggest posting on /r/whatisthisthing as well, they're normally very helpful on identifying objects (you could also try /r/militaria but I haven't much experience with the sub so can't comment on the likely accuracy of any information you may receive).
This is pure speculation obviously, but "o" is a common diminutive in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian so it could be the owner's name.
