Fascists appropriated much of the language, dress, and aesthetics of the left. Your example of Francoist Spain is apt- the Falange, especially when it was still being run by Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera, copied the dress of the anarchists (blue shirts) and the colors of their flag (black and white). They even used the term "camarada". The same can be said of the Nazi Party- they also used terms like "kamerad". The German communists were aware of this Nazi usage and so they tried to distinguish themselves by using the term "genosse", another word for comrade. The key thing to remember here is that fascists were, historically, selective in their acceptance of modernity. Fascists embraced a revolutionary vocabulary and artistic presentation to advance reactionary causes.
