Probably the most important impact of Perot's 1992 run was its heavy promotion of fiscal conservatism, that is shrinking the size of government, cutting taxes, and balancing the budget. Namely, the last point, balancing the budget, was coopted by the Republican Party in later elections, as they had already promoted shrinking government and cutting taxes since the 1980s.

His other most prominent plank (other than balancing the budget) was opposition to NAFTA, which wasn't adopted by either party, but has more recently reared its head as protectionism seems to be becoming more popular.
