I plan on being a history teacher but know very little about precolonial Africa. My World History I class only talked about Egypt and World History II only got to Africa to talk about the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. I want to be a history teacher and I know some of my students will want to know about precolonial Africa so what are some good books to read to be able to teach them?
Of Water and the Spirit: Ritual, Magic, and Initiation in the Life of an African Shaman would probably be a great book for high schoolers. Not exactly pre-Colonial, but definitely relevant.
