Ok reddit, So i'm taking a course on Naval History since 1650. I've been struggling for the past three weeks to come up with a hella interesting topic. Ideally I'd like to write it on something to do with how naval warfar/ tech advances affected marine sea life during the second world war OR about the effectiveness of Operation Wonderland during the second world war.
Jw if you guys could shoot me some sources that may be beneficial to these topics/ maybe give me a super cool idea I could mold into something else

I recommend that you contact Paul Loether with your question if you agree with the sense of direction that I provide here. Paul is a great fellow and an expert on US maritime history. As the Chief of the National Register Programs for the National Park System, he has his finger on the pulse of what topics need to be addressed with regard to the identification and recognition of significant existing maritime resources.
If you are interested in directing your research to pursue a topic that could help with a specific problem that would be of use to NPS in pursuing its mission, Paul could help direct you to appropriate primary sources. You would be helping NPS and you would be pursing a topic that needs to be researched. Ultimately, you could help in the development of a National Register or National Historic Landmark nomination for a resource. It would be a feather in your cap.
All this said, it would be best if you are a grad student to be pursuing such an ambitious undertaking. I don't know where you are in your education or if it would be possible for you to pursue such a topic. If you're interested, let me know an I'll send you Paul's email address.
