Do you mean the way they are written and pronounced in Chinese?

Their names as they are known in English are romanisations of the Cantonese pronounciations of those characters. The KMT headquarters was located in Guangzhou, a Cantonese speaking city, so Western correspondents recorded their names as such. Their names do actually sound something like how they're spelt, just not in Mandarin.
