About 25 years ago (I was 14 or 15 at the time), I used to be really into WW2 History. One night over the summer, I was spending the night at my best friends house. We started having a discussion about WW2, and his father overheard us.

He told me that the had a Nazi Flag that a former veteran had given him. When I asked to see it, he revealed a very large ammunition box, with what looked like old WW2 bayonets & knives, and an object rolled up in black plastic. He unrolled the plastic, and showed us this flag.

Every time I would go over his house during that summer, I would ask to see the flag. It fascinated me that someone had kept an important piece of history. Recently, 25 years later, I had stopped back over his house, we started talking about that flag. I asked him if he still had it.

Needless to say - he gave it to me. He knew I always had an interest in it (disclaimer: I, in NO way align myself with the Nazi party) as I collect various other antiques now later in life. So, to make a long story short - I'm wondering about the authenticity of it. Its in remarkable shape, being stored in black plastic, within an ammo can. I don't need to know the value, as it will just end up in my safe for my kids to inherit someday - but I'm just curious about the authenticity.

I did a little research, and it appears to be a podium flag/banner. I also did the 'burn' test (remove a small thread from the corner & burn it - test to see if its polyester or cotton), and it appears to be cotton. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, and thank you.
