So, I would imagine that the general joke of Russian judges in the Olympics giving low scores is some sort of a Cold War holdover, but is there any single event that gave rise to this stereotype? As a follow up, how much truth was there to the stereotype (as compared to judges from other countries swinging things one way or the other)?
