I am interested in history philosophy books like the ones above if that make sense? I'm currently reading Thomas Paine's Common Sense (although not that helpful in modern society) and books like these to shape my own political ideology, rather then sensational like today. Ones on the US are preffered, but also like Art of War is also what I like. Recommend away...

I read a book with a compilation of works from different people for an American Political Thought class. It's all primary sources, but it has a good insight into American political thought. It's called American Political Thought edited by Cummings. Not sure if this is the type of book your looking for or not, but I thought it was good.
