What was it about Hitler's speeches that made him so charismatic? I'm a non German speaker, every documentary about the man speaks about how he could control the masses through his speeches.so what did he he do that made him likeable? Was it what he said, his audacity in saying it? His way of saying it? Did he say what the people needed to hear?
Yes, he said what the people really needed to hear in a time of utter chaos. His body language(i.e. the hand movements), the electrifying enthusiasm, and a solid grasp on what the average German citizen was thinking all coagulated into the convincing speaker he was. A German woman described a speech of his "like listening to a symphony". The beginning was modest and near whisper, and as time went on the sense of urgency increased in his tone, all eventually leading to an explosive finale that most are familiar with.
What he said was not revolutionary, in fact, much of the economical/political content you pick out from earlier speeches would resonate quite well with the majority of people in the world today. That is not a testament to how intelligent he was whatsoever. Again, he was simply regurgitating what the people wanted to hear in the most energetic and "fascinating" way at the time.
