I was playing some EU4 extended timeline, noticed that Iberia and Albania were for some reason where the Caucuses mountains are. I was wondering if there's any relation between C. Iberia and current Spain or C. Albania and modern day Albania. Was there an mass migration? Not really familiar in Central Asian ancient history.
there is a vanilia steam achievement in EU4 that's essentially a joke about the two iberian names which first alerted me to this.

Was starting a writeup but I found a six month old askhistorians post that a combination of /u/elev57, /u/kaisermatias and /u/rusoved that did the job quite nicely.
I'll also throw out there that Albania has been used in reference to scotland (from the name Alba)
so pretty much it's a coincidince or at least they're not the same people (unlike galacia) but we don't have a clear undespited origin story of the caucuses terms
