Gladiators daily lives on an "ordinary" day would have followed a fairly regular routine of eating and training. Gladiators would eat heart meals primarily consisting of grain, and would spend much of the day when they were not eating, training for combat. A gladiator spent most of their time inside a gladiator school (Ludus), enclosed areas with cells were the gladiators slept, and a central training yard where they trained.

A gladiator's training was primarily based on the style of Gladiator they were, as well as their experience level. Gladiators were separated by their classes in training, i.e. Retiarii would train primarily with other Retiarii, and their teacher would be a veteran Retiarius who had retired from the Arena. This was necessary as each gladiator class required a very different skill set to be used effectively.

Gladiators were still slaves, so they had little freedom of choice to do anything outside of eat,sleep, and train. It is known however, that, that gladiators were very popular figures, and particularly attractive to women in Rome, although how exactly a woman in Rome would go about acquiring a gladiator is unknown to me. It has been suggested that Commodus may have been the product of and affair between Faustina and a Gladiator, but this is likely just literary storytelling.
