Egypt has been tasked by the Arab League to oversee the reconciliation process between Palestinian factions as well as to mediate between Israel and the Palestinians in the Middle East Peace Process. This is colloquially referred to Egypt overseeing the Palestinian “file”. Can anybody please assist in clarifying when this role was bestowed on Egypt?
