Section Two of the Colonial Laws Validity Act 1865 means that any law passed by a colonial parliament that is "repugnant to" (in contravention of) a law passed by the Imperial Parliament at Westminster which extended to that Colony, then the colonial law is held to be void.
Section Three of the Act provides that if a Colony's Governor assented to a bill in contravention of their instructions, that law would also be considered void.
