Georgia Governer Joseph Brown came up with the idea of arming confederate troops with pikes as a cheap way to deal with weapon shortages since they would be superior to a musket and bayonet in melee. He wound up ordering around 7000 of them in the early years in the war and armed a couple of companies with pikes but it doesn't seem that the weapons ever saw serious combat. At the time the idea faced heavy criticism and was eventually put to rest as the confederate army was already doing fairly well in the field during this time.

Confederate general Stonewall Jackson also apparently asked for 1000 pikes to be supplied to his army in 1861 but it doesn't seem that anything came of it.

Prior to the civil war abolitionist John Brown also purchased about 950 pikes to be used by rebels after his raid on Harper's Ferry.
