From what I understand, most countries in Europe had a monarchy. Today they are all democracies, but the UK still has a monarch. Why is that? How was the UK different? What happened to the other countries?
Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, and Norway are all European monarchies.....
There's a form of government called "Constitutional Monarchy" where you maintain your monarchy alongside whatever other form of government primarily runs the country (usually a democracy). All of the countries listed so far in this thread are constitutional monarchies.
