Maybe I'm using Google's news archive incorrectly, but I'm only finding things like the Virginia Gazette, Providence Gazette, and American Journal. That's fine, but I'm looking for another side of the story.
You mean you're looking for the British side? Well the London Gazette is free to search, but not really. The best bet for that period in British papers would be the Burney Collection, which is formidable, Gale-Cengage has kinda cornered the market on historical newspaper collections, but you'd need to travel to a good academic library to get access to it. Otherwise you can pick through this faceted search I made, but most of this is paywalled.
