Dear Askhistorians,

There are many recorded and popularly known western and Chinese explorers who traveled to the Indian subcontinent. I've tried looking but can't seem to find any references to instances of Indian explorers/travelers visiting Europe.

It seems absurd to think that the silk route consisted only of travel to India. Same for maritime travel, especially since Indians were trading with Arabs for thousands of years.

Are there any travelogues or records of Indian travelers to Europe? Who were the first Indians to visit Europe (other than the Roma)? Indian in this context means people from the subcontinent.

I am not an expert in the field and any input or thoughts on this will be appreciated!
