I checked the wiki and I couldn't find one that chronicled Russia from it's beginning to where it is now. Is Russia for Russians worth reading or do you have any better suggestions?
You could star with Nicholas Riasanovsky's A History of Russia, preferably the last and 8th edition co-authored with Mark Steinberg.
The book tried to explain the difficult history of a country in 600/800 pages ( depending on the translation, the original was in English ) so there are periods that are overlooked compared to others but it's a good starting point in order to later go further in a period that interests you.
