The city of Athens has existed in many varying states between its mythical founding by King Theseus around 3000 B.C. to the First Mithridatic War that occurred from 87 to 86 B.C. when Athens was defeated and punished severely by Sulla. Between those dates occur countless changes in forms of government, laws, and policies, which would greatly impact daily life. You may be more inclined to post a question about daily life in Athens during the Golden Age of Greece, during or shortly after the life of Pericles. This is a period that occurred for a little over a century, and was marked by stability in the democratic government and economy of Athens.
