My grandfather owns a Beechcraft Queen Air that was used in the US Army to transport generals. He was wanting to have it painted like it did when it was in the army. Currently I have one picture I found online of the paint job in 1981 but can't find anything else. The plane's tail number while in service was 0-23850. If this isn't the proper place to ask this then please tell me where I should ask. Thanks!!
A few details you might know already; the Beechcraft Twin Bonanza/Queen Air was known as the L-23 Seminole in US Army service until 1962, when it changed to U-8 under the new designation system (L- was for Light aircraft, revised to U- for Utility). The Queen Air was the L-23F / U-8F. The manufacturer's serial number of that particular aircraft is LF.48, US Army serial number is 62-3850 (as per the [1962 Serial Number list from Joe Baugher's website] (http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/1962.html)). The 0- prefix on the tail number at the time of the photograph indicates an aircraft more than ten years old (see The Display of Serial Numbers on Aircraft, http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/usafserials.html).
For official colours and markings your best source is probably the Army Technical Bulletin TB-746-93-2, Painting and Marking of Army Aircraft. Google Books holds a 1986 version of the subsequent Technical Manual, [TM 55-1500-345-23] (https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=G30-AAAAYAAJ), which shows diagrams for the U-8F from page 10-76; I'm afraid I'm not sure if that differs from [the 1971 edition] (https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/TB_746_93_2_Painting_and_Marking_of_Army.html?id=cM6BSwAACAAJ) of TB-746-93-2.
The [Kansas Aviation Museum] (http://kansasaviationmuseum.org/visit/aircraft/beech-u-8-queen-air/) have a U-8F from the same batch (s/n 62-3838), it appears to be painted similarly to your photo, as per TM 55-1500-345-23 (white top, black stripe, olive drab bottom).
