While I can't tell you why your response was down-voted, and agree that it shouldn't have been, as a perfectly valid question, it's not particularly polite towards the many volunteers that give their time to answer questions on /r/AskHistorians to complain that your question didn't receive an answer. The simple and unfortunately reality is that many - probably most - questions here are not answered on the first attempt, simply because we receive so many and there are only so many people capable and willing to give quality responses. If your answer doesn't receive a response, please be patient, give it a couple of days, and try again.
