What books can someone here reccommend for a good unbiased review of WW1's major events and its overall effects?
I'm aware of the Great War series on youtube but it still hasn't concluded and is expected to go on till 2018.
David Stevenson's 1914-1918 would be right up your alley; if you want a somewhat smaller book, Adrian Gregory's A War of Peoples is a good place to start as well. Hew Strachan's first volume of his Oxford History of WWI, To Arms!, is also excellent, if quite large at c. 1500 pages or so. The documentary based off it, whose first episode bears the same name as the book (To Arms!), is also available in full on youtube.
