I was wondering if anybody can make a book recommendation about the history of Indonesia (from the last 100-200 years or even their early history)? English please!

Also looking for a book about the Batak people in Sumatra. Thanks for all future recommendations! I myself am Indonesian but moved abroad before I was taught our history, so I'm trying to catch up on our history.

I know so very little about the Batak people, unfortunately. But for a general history, I recommend:

A. Vickers, A History of Modern Indonesia, 2nd ed 2014.

J. Bresnan, Indonesia: The Great Transition, 2005.
