I bought Sapiens on a whim in the Natural History Museum, but it's a bit opinionated for my taste, and the author seems to extrapolate an awful lot from his references. It covers, in a broad scope, the path of human evolution and geographical spread, the development of tribes, empires, religion, etc.

I know that's an incredibly broad scope for a book, but would anybody have any recommendations? Or even a selection of books which cover some of these topics in greater detail. Thanks in advance, I hope this is within the subreddit rules!
