Why did nearly all civilisation adore gold? why not other metal that may be even rarer in their area?
Are there civilisation that absolutely didnt care about it?
(1) Gold is malleable. It is easy to make things out of gold.
(2) Gold is beautiful. Gold has a lot of aesthetic appeal to people.
(3) Gold is just rare enough. Gold is scarce enough for people to value it, but not so unabundant that you can't use it as a commodity. Rarer isn't always better. If you're going to use something as a commodity, then there has to be enough of it to put into circulation.
