I was reading about the Enabling Act and stumbled upon Otto Wels who was the only member of the Reichstag to speak against the Enabling Act. Of course there were other members of the Reichstag who were against but were afraid to openly speak out against it. But what about the average German citizen? I find it amazing that so many people could just stand by and watch their rights be taken away. Were there other Otto Wels out there?
