I was searching through Google Images for a cool icon for a game project I am working on and stumbled upon this image of a sword hilt that had a sword and leaves symbol on it.
I thought that was pretty neat so I dug through the page the image is from, which says the sword is a mid-war produced officer sword manufactured by Holler. The icon is "sword & oakleaves". Conducting a Google search for this name gets me nowhere.
So...I find myself rather reluctant to want to use any imagery related to the Nazis, but I have to admit my curiosity is now peaked. Where did this icon come from? Was it another thing the Nazis adopted and corrupted? Is it just some generic image? What's it supposed to symbolize?
It's a plain nazi officer's sword. I suspect it is an early model, as later models have the Nazi crest or service symbol in place of the sword.

Look for HOLLER-1 on that page and you'll find it.
The sword and oak leaves are basically a generic motif, there's no great meaning except "this space was empty so we filled it". So don't feel as if you're using nazi icons, the sword and oak leaf shows up in a lot of eras.
