Like most religions, Islam is a mixture of tenets from other religions. It's easier to sell a new religion to people if it has things in common with their old religion. Muslims don't eat pork because in the 7^th century, Jews didn't eat pork. Though some Muslims might not like to admit that's the reason these days.
