How long did the social structure that is associated with, say, peasants in 14^th century Montaillou survive in western Europe (i.e. not Russia)? When did peasants move away from their traditions and into a more "modern" social structure? And, lastly, are there any photos or studies on those groups of people if anyone had the foresight to record what life was like for those peasants?
