Was Hitler actually planning to basically take over the world? My impression from the background given by Adam Tooze, The Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy, was that Hitler wrote that he wanted Germany to be a European great power to be able to stand up to the US, not that he wanted to "try to take over the world!" (Brain, 1995). But I'm not at all sure of this, so I'm asking a question rather than trying to answer.
