There are as many originals of the treaty as nations that signed it in 1919. Those include the United States, the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Ecuador, Greece, Guetemala, Haiti, the Hejdaz (a predecessor state to Saudi Arabia), Honduras, Liberai, Nicaragua, Panama, and – of course – Germany.

The sigend originals are kept in the various National Archives and Libraries, such as the British Library (reference code: Collection LB.31.c.6113) or the Library of Congress in the US. The only place where that is not the case is France. There it was first evacuated before the German army in June 1940 and subsequently stolen by the Germans together with other important archival material such as an original copy of the Treat of Westphalia. Thus Germany is currently the only country in the world that is in possession of two originals of the treaty of Versailles, one in the Bundesarchiv, R1 Reichskanzlei and one in the archives of the Foreign Office, PAAA.
