Now that said, I think that the role of privateering in the Anglo-Spanish war would be an interesting topic (I'm assuming you mean the Anglo-Spanish war that started in 1585?). One of the best ways to go about finding sources is to find a more general history of the period, then look at the bibliography/footnotes to find what sources that person used in their own research. The best one-volume history of the English navy of that period is probably N.A.M. Rodger, The Safeguard of the Sea: A Naval History of Britain 660-1649, and that book has a couple of chapters on operations at the time, as well as a full chapter on the Armada itself. It should be available at just about any decent library, so I might start with that and get into his bibliography.
